The week of 9th July

We should have known better than to choose a date at the beginning of Wimbledon! Still, it could have been a lot worse, the rain kept away and the clouds and winds let the sun through. The Martlets Choir sang a beautiful set for us all, Maggie, John and Mark ran a tight ship on the bbq front, Donald on drinks and Lai, Gloria and Vera on cakes. Thanks to everyone who turned up on the day, it was a lovely community event. We even raised £600 for the church which is great and more.

The week of 2nd July

Chatty Café on Friday was quite emotional apparently; Sue Jacobs, as part of her training course to become a Minister, has to do a project on evangelising (usually one of the least popular topics), and she shared it with the café-goers. Rachel said “We had an emotional chatty cafe, Sue shared her video of her coming to faith and into the ministry training. It was a wonderful story, heartfelt and touched everyone who was there. Gloria was sobbing! Hope you get to see it.” Hopefully we will all get to see it, possibly at a Sunday service and more.

We generally have sufficient bods at the end to help with take down. Cakes for the cake stall would be very welcome as well and more.

The week of 21st May

Our beloved Jacqui passed away during the early hours last Friday morning. We could not have wished her to linger on, but she has left a huge gap in our lives. She was a beautiful soul, an example of love in action; flowing, laughing and dancing. She joined us as a pillar of lunch club, then quickly became a pillar of this church and Rachel’s right hand at Chatty Café and church events. The outpouring of love following her passing is the best testament to her and more.
